Cookie Policy
Last updated
Remedy uses two cookies to remember your survey answers and the songs you save, and a third to keep you logged in if you have an account. None of them exists until you press a button that needs it, and you can delete them on this page. There are no adverts, and nothing follows you around the web. Visits are counted without cookies, as explained below.
The Cookies
Survey answers
- Name
remedy-preferences- Holds
- Your instrument, skill range and genres. Nothing else.
- Created
- When you press “Save Preferences” on the survey.
- Lasts
- Up to 365 days after you last saved. Some browsers, such as Safari, clear it after about 7.
Saved songs
- Name
remedy-saved- Holds
- The catalogue numbers of the songs and pieces you saved, up to 200. Nothing else.
- Created
- When you press “Save” on a song’s page. Removing your last saved song deletes it.
- Lasts
- Up to 365 days after you last changed it. Some browsers, such as Safari, clear it after about 7.
Logged in
- Name
- Starts with
sb-and ends with-auth-token(a long one may be split into numbered parts). A few small helper cookies, also starting withsb-and ending withcode-verifier, may appear alongside it when you sign up or reset your password. - Holds
- A code that proves you’re logged in to your account. Not your password.
- Created
- When you create an account or log in.
- Lasts
- Until you log out. It renews itself while you use the site.
Only Remedy can read them. Your browser sends them with each page you open, so the site can pick your recommendations, show your saved songs and know you’re logged in. They aren’t passed to anyone else.
While you’re logged in, your survey answers and saved songs are kept in your account rather than in the first two cookies. When you log in, anything already saved in those cookies moves into your account and the cookies are deleted. The Privacy Policy explains what an account holds.
What’s Stored Right Now
This is what this browser’s cookies hold.
No survey answers.
No saved songs.
What Remedy Doesn’t Use
No advertising, no cookies beyond the three above, no cookies from other companies, and no other browser storage. Everything the site loads, fonts included, comes from Remedy’s own address.
Removing or Blocking Them
Use the delete buttons above, or clear the cookies for this site in your browser’s settings (which also logs you out). If your browser blocks cookies, you can’t log in and the survey and the Save button can’t remember anything, but Manual Search and Classical still work.
Other Information
- Visit counts. Remedy’s host, Vercel, counts visits for us: which pages are opened, the site you came from, your country, and your type of device and browser. It uses no cookies, can’t follow you to other websites, and can’t recognise you from one day to the next. What you search for is left out.
- Searches. What you search for, your survey answers and your saved songs’ numbers go to Remedy’s server and its database provider, Supabase, to find matching songs. Searches aren’t recorded. If you have an account, your answers and saved songs are stored in it, as the Privacy Policy explains.
- Logs. The service that hosts Remedy keeps short-term logs of requests: IP address, time and page address, including any search words. They are used to keep the site running, not to identify you.
- Outside links. A song’s page links to Musicnotes, Sheet Music Plus, MuseScore and Spotify. Nothing is sent to them unless you press one, and they aren’t told you came from Remedy. Their own policies apply once you’re there.
- Copy Link. Copies the page’s address to your clipboard when you press it. Remedy never reads your clipboard.
Changes
If any of this changes, this page and the date at the top will be updated first.
